Russian Embassy issues clarification on status of Indian nationals in Russian military
Says efforts are underway to identify and discharge Indian nationals who had voluntarily enlisted in Russian military
PTC Web Desk: The Russian Embassy in India has addressed recent media inquiries regarding Indian nationals serving in the Russian Armed Forces amidst reports of casualties related to the ongoing special military operation in Ukraine.
The Russian Embassy expressed its heartfelt condolences to the Indian Government and the families of the deceased. It assured that efforts are underway to identify and discharge Indian nationals who had voluntarily enlisted in the Russian military, with all contractual obligations and compensations being fully honoured.
The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation has announced that it ceased the recruitment of foreign nationals, including Indians, into the Russian military as of April this year.
The Embassy firmly stated that the Russian Government has not engaged in any deceptive recruitment practices or campaigns targeting Indian nationals for military service.
