PM Modi visit to US: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to pay an official visit to USA and Egypt from June 20-25, 2023.

PM Modi is visiting USA at the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. The visit will commence in New York where the Prime Minister will lead the celebrations of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters on June 21. 


PM Modi to US: Agenda

PM Modi visit to US will yield significant outcome as this visit will mark the first time an Indian Prime Minister addresses the US Congress twice. Modi’s visit to US has the potential to change the political and technological landscape for the future. 

PM Modi’s visit is also expected to improve India’s industrial ecosystem, closer relations between the two countries, strengthen partnership between two countries, emerging of new technologies and traditions. 


PM Modi to US: Full Schedule 

Day 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach New York on June 20 and is expected to be welcomed by a group of Indian Americans 

Day 2: On June 21, the PM will lead celebrations marking the International Day of Yoga at the UN headquarters in New York.

Day 3: The prime minister will then travel to Washington D.C., where he will receive a ceremonial welcome at the White House on June 22, and meet President Biden to continue their high-level dialogue.

Day 4: On June 23, the prime minister will be jointly hosted at a luncheon by US Vice President Kamala Harris and the State Secretary Antony Bilnken.

In addition to official engagements, the Prime Minister is scheduled to have several curated interactions with leading CEOs, professionals, and other stakeholders. He will also meet members of the Indian Diaspora.

Day 5 & 6: The PM will then travel to Cairo to pay a state visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt from June 24-25.

PM Modi to celebrate Yoga Day in US

Preparations are underway at the United Nations Headquarters lawns in New York ahead of the Yoga Day celebrations which will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

PM Modi will lead a 9th edition of International Yoga Day on June 21 at the United Nations headquarters in New York during his official state visit to the United States. Prime Minister is visiting the United States at the invitation of President Joe Biden from June 20-24.

The International Day of Yoga is celebrated on June 21.

The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated worldwide annually on June 21 since 2015, following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice that originated in ancient India.


PM Modi to US: Meetings 

Apart from the 6-day packed tour, PM Modi to also interact with senior dignitaries from the Egyptian Government, some prominent Egyptian personalities, as well as the Indian community in Egypt. Relations between India and Egypt are based on ancient trade and economic linkages as well as cultural and deep-rooted people-to-people ties.

During the state visit of President Sisi in January 2023, it was agreed to elevate the relationship to a 'Strategic Partnership'. 


Craze for PM Modi 

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historic visit to the United States this week, Indian Americans in Washington held the Unity march to extend a warm welcome to the PM. 

Indian Americans have organised the march in 20 major cities across the United States including New York. The community were seen chanting "Modi Modi", "Vande Mataram" and "Vande America."

Indian-American diaspora, Ramesh Anam Reddy, who was one of the participants in the unity march, said, "We are all here, the Indian diaspora in Washington DC, Maryland and all the surrounding cities, we are all here to celebrate the 'Unity Day' and the PM Modi joining American president Biden. So, this is a great event for all of us and a great moment for all of us."


"We wanted to celebrate that and wanted to make sure that everyone knows how the India and America relationships are growing and how they are helpful," another PM Modi fan added.

"I think India is making all the difference. That's the reason we are here. So many people are coming here and they want to sympathize and they wanted to even the mainstream Americans, they want to join the unity march. That's what we are here for," said another Indian American and fan of Modi.
