The mother, a mathematician by profession, reportedly joked that the couple had a better chance of winning the lottery than having five children, the probability of which is one in 52 million. The couple considers it nothing short of a miracle.
The babies were delivered by cesarean section at 29 weeks, with weights between 1lb 9oz to 3lb 1oz. The mother shared an update on the health of the quintuplets, stating that they still require respiratory support but are all stable. Ryszard Lauterbach, the hospital's head of the neonatal department, stated that the medical facility is looking forward to the happy day when they will be able to discharge all of the babies in good health. "We hope to reach the joyful moment of discharging them," Lauterbach said.
