As the G7 Summit kicks off in Italy, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Thursday said that the country decided to host the summit in Apulia because it is a region of southern Italy and through the summit, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was seen welcoming global leaders arriving at the G7 Summit with an Indian traditional ‘Namaste’ gesture on Thursday. 

Videos capturing Prime Minister Meloni's greetings have gained widespread attention on social media platforms.

The videos, shared widely on social media, depict Prime Minister Meloni using the classic Indian greeting to welcome figures such as German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

PM Meloni's Namaste gesture has sparked significant interest and discussion on social media platforms.


The G7 Summit will convene leaders from the seven member states: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the US, alongside the President of the European Commission representing the European Union.

Additionally, leaders from Ukraine, Brazil, Argentina, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya, Algeria, Tunisia, and Mauritania are slated to attend this esteemed global summit.

During the discussions at the Outreach session, the focus would be on artificial intelligence, energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean. It will be an opportunity to bring greater synergy between the outcomes of the G20 Summit held under India’s Presidency and the forthcoming G7 Summit, and deliberate on issues which are crucial for the Global South.
