Bangladesh on boil: Lawyer of Hindu monk arrested on sedition charges killed in clashes

PTC News Desk: The arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh prompted an outrage amongst his supporters and entire Hindu community in the country. Clashes broke out between his supporters and police resulting in the death of monk's lawyer.

Chinmoy Krishna Das, a monk associated with International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) was arrested from the Dhaka airport area on Monday on several charges, including “sedition”.
As the monk was being transported to jail, his supporters throng the court premises and started chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans while disrupting the vehicle movement and demanded his immediate release.
The Indian government had blatantly criticised the arrest and denial of bail to Chinmoy Krishna Das, spokesperson for the Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatan Jagran Jote. New Delhi urged Bangladesh authorities to ensure the safety and security of Hindus and all minorities, including their right of freedom of peaceful assembly and expression.
