Iran Supreme leader Khamenei's ironic post, dubs women as delicate flowers; Israel gives pictorial retort

PTC News Desk: Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has landed in a controversy after his remarks over women. Khamenei described women as "flowers" and not "housemaids". His remarks came after the day when the UN General Assembly adopted the Women's Bill of Rights in 1979.

However moments later, Khamenei's  post drew pictorial retort from Israel. The image was shared without any description and in one such case the picture shared by Israel clearly doesn't need any introduction. The picture itself narrates the entire story.

The photograph was of Mahsa Amini, who died in police custody in Iran. The woman who lost the battle of life while fighting against the brutal regime of Iran. 

Khamenei's remarks stood in sharp contrast to the several restrictions that are imposed on women in Iran.

Israel was quick to mirror Iran after Khamenei expressed his remarks regarding women on social media platform X. "A woman is a delicate flower and not a housemaid. A woman should be treated like a flower in the home. A flower needs to be cared for. Its freshness and sweet scent should be benefitted from and used to perfume the air," Khamenei said.

"Women and men have different roles in the family. For example, the man is responsible for the family's expenses, while the woman is responsible for childbearing. This doesn’t imply superiority. They’re different merits, and the rights of men and women aren’t calculated based on these," he said in a tweet.

The post from the Supreme leader comes at a time when women in the country are fighting against stringent hijab laws. A law pertaining to hijab was approved by the parliament with an objective to tighten restrictions with regard to the women attire and stern action against businesses who fail to enforce dress code.
