Indian student's death in Italy; family appeals for government aid in repatriation

PTC News Desk: A tragic incident has unfolded in Italy, where an Indian student, Ram Raut, hailing from Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district, was discovered dead in the washroom of a residence. The untimely demise occurred on January 2, leaving his family in shock and seeking government support to bring back his body.

Ram Raut, pursuing an MBA in Italy, resided in rented accommodation. The distressing news came to light when Raut's parents attempted to convey New Year's greetings, and their calls went unanswered. Alarmed by the unresponsiveness, they reached out to the owner of his accommodation, who delivered the heartbreaking news that the student had been found lifeless in another house's washroom.

In the wake of this tragedy, Ram Raut's family has urgently sought assistance from senior government officials and public representatives of Jharkhand to facilitate the repatriation of his remains to India.

Addressing the situation, Ananya Mittal, the Deputy Commissioner of West Singhbhum, conveyed that upon receiving information about Ram Raut's demise, she promptly notified the Home Department and the Migration cell of Jharkhand for necessary actions.

Mittal affirmed her commitment to closely monitor the developments in the case and maintain regular communication with the grieving family. The circumstances surrounding Ram Raut's death remain unknown, further adding to the sorrow and distress experienced by his loved ones during this challenging time.
