PTC News Desk: India has issued an alert over UK travel. Earlier, a number of countries including Nigeria, Australia and Indonesia have delivered warnings to their citizens in or travelling to the UK. This follows a weekend of violent disorder in the UK, in which rioters attacked hotels used to house asylum seekers.

The unrest was sparked by the stabbing murders of three young girls in Southport, northwest England, last week. The incident has been exploited by anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim organisations, resulting in widespread misinformation on social media.

"Indian travellers would be aware of recent disturbances in some parts of the United Kingdom. The High Commission of India in London is closely monitoring the situation. Visitors from India are advised to stay vigilant and exercise due caution while travelling in the UK. It is advisable to follow local news and advisories issued by local security agencies, and to avoid areas where protests are underway," the High Commission of India in London stated.
