Flood survivors hurled mud, shouted insults at Spanish King, government officials

The incident comes as a huge embarrassment for the Royal House who with due utmost diligence carves image of the monarch who is liked by the nation.

PTC News Desk: A crowd of angry survivors of floods, hurled mud and shouted insults at Spanish king Felipe VI and government officials. The king made an official visit to the hardest hit towns where he along with other government officials was ambushed with flood survivors' anger.

Queen Letizia and regional Valencia President Carlo Mazn were also in the contingent. The queen also spoke to women with small glops of mud on her hands and arms. The monarch was trying to talk to locals while others shouted at him. In spite of ambush by the survivors, the king maintained a calm demeanour with individual. 


The incident comes as a huge embarrassment for the Royal House who with due utmost diligence carves image of the monarch who is liked by the nation. On the contrary the public was outrages over mismanagement of the crisis and Monarch had to witness the anger. The anger was also fueled by the inability of the officials to swiftly respond to the aftermath of the floods. 


The devastating floods in the country claimed lives of around 200 people and left thousands of people homeless as their homes were destroyed by the wall of water and mud. Most of the debris and cleaning of the piled up mud and water was done by residents and volunteers themselves with no assistance from government.
