PTC News Desk: Elon Musk deleted a controversial post in which he stated that "no one is even trying to assassinate" President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in response to backlash from X users.

The Tesla CEO made the statement hours after the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump while he was playing golf. In the post, he wrote, "And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala".

Musk's tweet came in reaction to DogeDesinger's post, which posed the question "Why do they want to kill Donald Trump?"

In a follow-up post, the billionaire wrote: "Well, one lesson I've learned is that just because I say something to a group and they laugh doesn’t mean it’s going to be all that hilarious as a post on X."

Elon Musk's statement drew criticism from internet users, including politicians and commentators.

Former Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) slammed Musk's statement, calling it "unhinged and dangerous," and urged Musk to "get help."

His remarks were deemed "literally incitement" by DemsMight, a grassroots political group.

White House spokesperson Andrew Bates replied to the post saying that “violence should only be condemned, never encouraged or joked about,”. “This rhetoric is irresponsible,” he added.
