Donald Trump assassination attempt: As the investigation progressed into the attempted assassination of former US President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, the first photo of 20-year-old 'loner' who attempted to assassinate former US President Donald Trump, Thomas Matthew Crooks has been released.
Donald Trump was on stage at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania's Butler before gunshots rang out and Secret Service agents stormed the stage.
Authorities reported that the shooter fired several shots from a nearby rooftop before being fatally shot by Secret Service agents. Law enforcement officials used the gun to identify the shooter, as he was not carrying any identification.
"The FBI has identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the subject involved in the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on July 13, in Butler, Pennsylvania," the agency said in a statement.
