Donald Trump appoints Indian-American Sriram Krishnan as Aenior AI policy advisor

Sriram Krishnan will focus on maintaining America's leadership in AI and will shape and coordinate AI policies across government entities, says Trump

PTC Web Desk: In a significant move, US President-elect Donald Trump has announced the appointment of Indian-American entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and author Sriram Krishnan as the Senior White House Policy Advisor on Artificial Intelligence.  Krishnan will serve under the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, working closely with David O. Sacks, who has been designated as the White House AI & Crypto Czar.

Trump made the announcement on Sunday while unveiling key appointments aimed at strengthening America’s position in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence (AI) sector.

“Sriram Krishnan will focus on maintaining America's leadership in AI and will shape and coordinate AI policies across government entities. This includes collaborating with the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology,” Trump said. He also highlighted Krishnan’s career, which began at Microsoft, where he was a founding member of Windows Azure.

Krishnan brings extensive experience, having previously led product teams at tech giants, including Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo!, Facebook, and Snap. Sharing his enthusiasm, Krishnan said, "I'm honoured to serve our country and work alongside David Sacks to ensure America remains at the forefront of AI innovation."

The Indian-American community has warmly welcomed Krishnan's appointment. Indiaspora Executive Director Sanjeev Joshipura lauded the move, saying, “Sriram has been an insightful leader in AI, blending public policy, international affairs, and technology. His new role will greatly benefit the nation.”

Joshipura added, "As Indiaspora continues to lead discussions on AI both in the United States and abroad, we are eager to collaborate with Sriram on advancing innovative solutions."
