Dhaka summons Indian envoy over security breach at Bangladesh mission in Tripura

PTC News Desk: Bangladesh has summoned Indian envoy Pranay Verma over security breach incident at the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Tripura’s Agartala.


The incident took place in Tripura's capital Agartala which is bordering Bangladesh. Thousands of people gathered in huge protest and lodged protest against the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das as well as attacks on the Hindu community in Bangladesh.


The demonstrators reportedly ambushed Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh and resorting to vandalism. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Monday said the incident was “deeply regrettable and appropriate measure are being taken security arrangements have been heightened at Bangladesh missions in India.


In response to the security lapse Bangladesh consulate in Agartala, three sub-inspectors were suspended. Chinmoy Das was arrested at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on sedition charges. Ever since his arrest, Bangladesh has been witnessing unrest due to the apprehension.
