Canada: Woman arrested for stealing Porsche and running over owner
Sarah Badshaw from Brampton faces several charges, including dangerous driving causing bodily harm, stealing a vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving without a license
PTC Web Desk: Sarah Badshaw, the woman who posed as a potential car buyer and ran over the owner of a Porsche Cayenne, was arrested on Thursday after turning herself in. This comes just a day after the police released video footage of the shocking crime, which happened earlier this month.
Sarah Badshaw from Brampton faces several charges, including dangerous driving causing bodily harm, stealing a vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving without a license. The police also revealed that she is connected to other ongoing investigations across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and is wanted by several police services.
What makes this case even more surprising is that Badshaw worked part-time as a babysitter, promoting herself as a trusted caregiver online.
The incident took place on September 6 when Badshaw responded to an online advertisement for a 2022 Porsche Cayenne. She arrived at the owner's home in Mississauga, telling him she was there to see the car and was waiting for her father.
Footage shows Sarah Badshaw and the owner inspecting the car. Once the owner stepped away, she locked herself inside the vehicle and quickly reversed, knocking the owner down. The victim, who hasn’t been named, suffered injuries to his elbow, hands, and legs and needed medical attention.
Peel Regional Police credited social media for helping catch the suspect. According to Constable Tyler Bell, the video of the incident was shared over 95,000 times within 24 hours, leading to tips from the public that helped identify Badshaw. She now faces serious charges for this dangerous and bold act.
