Canada: Punjab's Barnala girl dies in Toronto

PTC News Desk: A pall of gloom descended on Hamidi village of Barnala district in Punjab after the news of death of village youth in Canada reached Punjab. 

The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Punjabi woman, Manpreet Kaur, a resident of Hamidi village of Barnala district in Punjab.

In a heartbreaking incident, Punjabi woman Manpreet Kaur died in Canada’s Toronto.

Kaur had gone to Canada on study visa in August 2022 and had been living in the city of Toronto pursuing her studies from one of the reputed university of Canada.

The reason of Kaur’s death is yet unknown as the media sources are declaring her death due to cardiac arrest. 


Meanwhile, father of deceased Kewal Singh stated that the family received the call around 3 am on Wednesday morning and has been informed about the critical condition of his daughter. Family was informed that Kaur has been continually vomiting and facing breathing issued after which she was admitted to hospital and has been declared dead after some time. 


Notably, Canada is a country where most Indians are settled. Several recent cases of deaths of Punjabi youths in Canada have created a state of panic back home in India. Now parents are either not willing to send their children abroad or whose wards are already settled there are in a state of anxiety.
