Canada gang shootout: Canadian police release video of Indian-origin 'gangster' Harpreet Uppal and son's deadly shooting
The footage captures individuals exiting a black BMW, rushing towards Uppal's white SUV, discharging a weapon, and swiftly fleeing the scene
Ottawa, November 13: In a tragic incident in southeast Edmonton, Canada, Indian-origin Sikh "gang member" Harpreet Singh Uppal and his 11-year-old son were fatally shot, prompting the release of surveillance footage by Canadian police. The shocking event has been described as "sick and twisted," with authorities identifying Uppal as a "high-level gang member" involved in the drug trade.
The Edmonton Police, investigating the shooting that occurred on November 9 at a shopping complex, released a video and images of suspects connected to the killings. Uppal, affiliated with the Brothers Keeper gang, was shot alongside his son in broad daylight. Police believe that Uppal's son was intentionally targeted, adding a disturbing layer to the already heinous crime.
The surveillance footage captures the suspects leaving a black BMW SUV, rushing towards Uppal's white SUV, firing a weapon, and quickly fleeing the scene. The authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist in the investigation. The release of the video and images aims to trigger potential witnesses' memories and gather crucial details.
The Edmonton Police Service expressed optimism that even seemingly insignificant details could prove immensely helpful in solving the case. Autopsies on the victims are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, as the police continue their efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Notably, an unrelated 11-year-old boy was present in Uppal's vehicle during the incident but managed to escape unharmed. This harrowing event follows the recent killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Nijjar in Surrey, contributing to tensions in diplomatic relations between India and Canada.
The police statement revealed that Uppal had been targeted before, citing a previous shooting incident in 2021 at an Edmonton restaurant. The broader context suggests that recent gangland killings in Edmonton and Toronto are linked to an ongoing gang war in British Columbia, with various groups, including the Brothers Keepers, the United Nations, and the Red Scorpion-Kang group, turning public spaces into battlegrounds. Investigations are ongoing to determine the connection between the suspect vehicle and a burned vehicle, a 2012 black BMW X6, found in another location.
