The wildfire in Los Angeles’s Pacific Palisades area has prompted the evacuation of 30,000 residents, according to Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley. Despite the widespread destruction, there have been no reported casualties.

Hours after the Palisades blaze, another wildfire broke out in Altadena's Eaton area, forcing emergency evacuations at a senior living centre. Staff members were seen pushing elderly residents in wheelchairs and hospital beds down the street as flames rapidly approached, reported the Associated Press.

Videos shared on social media and by California Governor Gavin Newsom reveal a dystopian landscape, with homes, vehicles, and trees engulfed in flames. Thick plumes of black smoke have blanketed the skies, and emergency sirens echo through the affected areas.

In one video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Governor Newsom surveys the Pacific Palisades fire, showcasing the extensive damage. “Hundreds and hundreds of personnel from across the state, 110 engines, fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and water tenders are working tirelessly to suppress this fire and prevent new outbreaks,” Newsom said.

Another video highlights the fierce winds that continue to fuel the flames, causing fire to spread across homes and vehicles while emergency responders battle the inferno.

Experts have cautioned that the situation in California is likely to worsen as strong winds and dry conditions persist. Officials are urging residents in vulnerable areas to stay alert and follow evacuation orders promptly.
