PTC Web Desk: In a series of violent protests across Bangladesh on Sunday, Haradhan Roy Hara, a Hindu councillor of Rangpur City Corporation, was among the 100 deaths reported. As per local sources, Hindu homes and temples, including those of ISKCON and Kali, had been targeted, forcing devotees to seek refuge.
Haradhan Roy Hara, affiliated with the Parshuram Thana Awami League and serving as the councillor of Ward 4 in Rangpur city, was allegedly killed, according to The Daily Star. The New Indian Express also reported the death of Kajal Roy, another Hindu councillor from Rangpur, in the violent unrest.
Thousands of protesters seeking the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reportedly clashed with government supporters, marking one of the deadliest days since the protests began.
A curfew has been enforced since 6 pm on Sunday and would continue. The government announced a three-day closure of all establishments, including banks, while essential services like hospitals, water, gas, and electricity remain operational.
