Bangladesh acknowledges 88 incidents of communal violence after India expressed concerns
Indian foreign secretary Vikram Misri pressed interim government of Bangladesh over regrettable incidents of attacks on minorities and expressed concerns over safety of Hindus during meeting with Bangladesh officials.
PTC News Desk: Bangladesh has now confirmed on Tuesday that 88 incidents of communal violence against minorities specifically Hindus were reported after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government. The acknowledgement comes after India expressed concerns over targeted attacks on Hindus.

A total of 88 cases have been filed in connection with incidents involving minorities between August 5 and October 22.
Interim government head Muhammad Yunus’ press secretary Shafiqul Alam noted that some of the victims may have been part of the former ruling party. “Certain attacks were directed at individuals who were former ruling party members, or they stemmed from personal disputes. Nevertheless, since violence has occurred, the police are taking the necessary actions,” he said.
The diplomatic ties between India and Bangladesh strained in past few attacks after the attacks on minorities came to light. The incidents of attacks on temples were also reported triggering grave concerns by New Delhi
