PTC News Desk: A Dallas bound American Airlines plane caught fire while stationed at a gate at Denver International Airport on Thursday morning, prompting an emergency evacuation. 


An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, flight number 1006, took off from Colorado Springs heading to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport but was redirected to Denver, according to an airline representative.


Evacuation videos have gone viral on social media, with one showing passengers being directed onto the plane's wing during the evacuation as smoke rose from the aircraft.


The incident comes amid growing concerns about aviation safety following a series of recent accidents. Experts in the airline industry, however, maintain that flying remains one of the safest modes of transportation
