The rescue effort, which was carried out with the help of Cambodian authorities, was aided by five consular/embassy officers who gave critical support to the Indian citizens. The Embassy provided assistance to the victims' families by offering counselling and facilitating communication with airlines for ticket sales, easy check-in, and immigration procedures.
This latest development comes after the recent repatriation of 60 Indian nationals rescued from fraudulent employers in Cambodia. These individuals, rescued on May 20 from a place known as Jinbei-4, were assisted by authorities in Sihanoukville, demonstrating a coordinated effort by Indian and Cambodian authorities.
The Indian Embassy in Cambodia has been actively working to address the situation of Indian people stranded in fake job schemes. The Embassy issued advisories asking Indian people seeking employment in Cambodia to exercise caution, highlighting the importance of securing jobs through authorised intermediaries approved by the Ministry of External Affairs.
