With 1.68 lakh new coronavirus cases, India records another new daily high

Coronavirus India Updates: India on Monday recorded 1,68,912 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the sixth record spike in seven days, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to over 1.35 crore. The resurgence also led to 904 new deaths, taking the death toll to 1,70,179. On Monday, India reported 1,68,912 new coronavirus cases, 75,086 discharges, and 904 deaths in last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry. The total number of COVID-19 cases in India has increased to 1,35,27,717 that include 1,21,56,529 recovered cases, 12,01,009 Active cases and 1,70,179 deaths. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 25,78,06,986 samples were tested up to April 11 including 11,80,136 samples tested on Sunday. Meanwhile, a total of 10,45,28,565 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine as of Monday morning. India's tally of around 1.35 crore Covid-19 cases is the second-highest globally, behind the United States and just ahead of Brazil. Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state which reported 63,294 new cases and 349 deaths in the last 24 hours. The state government is likely to take a call on announcing a complete lockdown in the state this week.
