UP Elections 2022: Muslim girls feel much safer under BJP rule, says PM Modi

Kanpur, February 14: During the ongoing second phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while campaigning for Bharatiya Janata Party said that Muslim girls feel much safer under the rule of the Yogi Adityanath led government. "Muslim girls feel safe under the BJP rule in Uttar Pradesh and more Muslim girls are going to schools and colleges in the state now," said PM Modi during an election rally in Kanpur Dehat. While addressing the public gathering, the Prime Minister spoke about the law and order situation in the state and said, "Our Muslim daughters used to face a lot of trouble while going for studies because of eve-teasers on streets. Our government has taken criminals to task, giving them a sense of security." 'Muslim girls safe under BJP rule' PM Modi went on to criticise the Samajwadi Party for changing alliance partners after each election. " How will they serve the people of Uttar Pradesh if they are constantly changing their allies?" questioned PM. The Samajwadi Party, led by Akhilesh Yadav, is currently contesting the 2022 Assembly elections in an alliance with the Rashtriya Lok Dal, led by Jayant Chaudhary, and other small parties. 'Muslim girls safe under BJP rule' The SP and Congress teamed up to run in the 2017 Assembly elections. Meanwhile, the SP ran in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in alliance with Mayawati's Bahujan Samajwadi Party.  Also Read | India to run by Constitution, not Islamic law: Yogi Adityanath over hijab row The polling for the second phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2022 started on Monday. Votes are being cast in 55 constituencies across nine districts.  'Muslim girls safe under BJP rule' In the second phase, 586 candidates are competing for seats in Saharanpur, Bijnor, Moradabad, Sambhal, Rampur, Amroha, Budaun, Bareilly, and Shahjahanpur. Around 2,01,42,441 voters are eligible to vote in 2nd phase of elections in Uttar Pradesh. These include 1,07,61,476 male voters, 93,79,704 female voters, and 1,261 transgenders. The polling started at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. The results for the Uttar Pradesh elections 2022 will be declared on March 10.
