Ukraine-Russia war: Indian flag helps Pakistani, Turkish students flee Ukraine

New Delhi, March 2: Indian flag came to the rescue of not only Indians stuck in Ukraine amid the Ukraine-Russia war, but is also helping Pakistani and Turkish students flee the war-torn country. Earlier, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy had asked Indian students stranded in war-stricken Ukraine to place the Indian flag on their vehicles for safe evacuation. So if Indian citizens travelling in buses, cars or two-wheelers, reach the border of Ukraine to get into another country, the Indian government has made sure that they are allowed entry without any problem. For the people who are reaching the border of Ukraine into Romania, the Indian government had taken measures to bring students from there for free of cost." Also read | Russia-Ukraine war: SpaceX delivers Starlink terminals to war-torn Ukraine The Indian students, who arrived in the city of Bucharest in Romania from Ukraine, say the Indian flag helped them as well as some Pakistani and Turkish students in safe evacuation. "We were told in Ukraine that if we carry an Indian flag with us, we won't have any problems," said a medical student who arrived from Odesa in Southern Ukraine. It is also learnt that students bought spray paints from markets to make an Indian flag by themselves. On Wednesday, Air India flight 1946 landed in India, carrying 215 students stranded in Ukraine from Bucharest at 9.30 am under Operation Ganga. Union Minister Gajendra Shekhawat said more people would be evacuated in the next two or three days. Shekhawat said, "All of you have come with a sad memory to India. Many of you must not have been able to sleep for hours, days... The government working day and night for you...More people to be evacuated in next 2-3 days." He further said, "I know that you might not have slept for days before coming to India due to fear. I want to tell you that even the officials and Ministers were worried about your safety." -PTC News
