UGC NET exam postponed, new dates to be announced later: NTA
UGC NET exam 2021 Postponed: The UGC NET exam 2021, scheduled to be held on May 2, has been postponed amid the spike in coronavirus cases in India. The UGC NET exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for determining the eligibility of Assistant Professors in universities and for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The National Testing Agency (NTA) stated that in the eye of the present situation of coronavirus pandemic in India and also taking into account the safety of the candidates, it has been decided that the exam be postponed. Also Read | Delhi lockdown: Huge number of migrants queue up at bus stands to flee city Earlier, the Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal had said that "Keeping in mind the safety and well-being of candidates and exam functionaries during COVID-19, I advised National Testing Agency to postpone the UGC-NET Dec 2020 cycle (May 2021) exams." According to the notice, the new dates would be announced by NTA at least 15 days before the exam. For example, if the exam were to begin from June 1, then dates would be announced by May 15 latest.
