KBC 16: Sony Entertainment Television's beloved quiz-based reality game show, 'Kaun Banega Crorepati,' has made a grand return to television screens with its 16th season, hosted by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan.

The new season kicked off on August 12 at 9:00 pm, with Bachchan captivating the audience with his powerful voice.

Under the tagline 'Zindagi hai, har mod par sawal poochhegi, jawaab to dena hoga,' the megastar began the round of questions, explaining both the new and existing rules of the game.

This season introduces the concepts of 'Super Sawal' and 'Dugnastra,' offering contestants a chance to double their winnings.

Meet the First Contestant of KBC 16

The game commenced with the introduction of the first contestant, Utkarsh Baxi from Bengaluru, who earned his spot on the hot seat after winning the 'Fastest Finger First' round.

Utkarsh, an HR professional, played skillfully but stumbled on a question worth Rs 25 lakh, related to the Mahabharata.

Can you answer this question on Mahabharata?

The question he faced was: "According to the Mahabharata, which god gifted a garland to Amba, declaring that whoever wears it will be the one to kill Bhishma?"

  • Lord Shiva
  • Lord Kartikeya
  • Lord Vishnu
  • Lord Vayu
What contestant Utkarsh answered?

Unsure of the correct answer, Utkarsh used the 'Video Call a Friend' lifeline, where his friend suggested Lord Shiva. However, still uncertain, Utkarsh opted for the 'Double Dip' lifeline, which allows two attempts at answering but does not permit quitting the game.

On his first attempt, Utkarsh selected Lord Shiva, which turned out to be incorrect. His second choice, Lord Vayu, was also wrong, causing him to lose the opportunity to win Rs 25 lakh.

What is the correct answer?

The correct answer is Lord Kartikeya. According to the Mahabharata, Amba received a garland from Lord Kartikeya (also known as Skanda or Murugan), who declared that whoever wore the garland would be the one to kill Bhishma. This garland eventually played a role in the events leading to Bhishma's death during the Kurukshetra War
