PTC News Desk: Allegations of plagiarism and falsified personal narratives have surfaced against British podcaster and life coach Jay Shetty, stirring controversy around his credibility.

Jay Shetty, renowned for his bestselling book 'Think Like A Monk: Train Your Mind for Peace and Purpose Every Day' and the host of the popular “On Purpose” podcast, has come under scrutiny following a report by The Guardian. The report challenges the authenticity of Shetty's claims regarding his life story and educational background.

Shetty's official website asserts that during his school years, he spent vacations living with monks in India, absorbing their wisdom and teachings. However, The Guardian's investigation contradicts this narrative, alleging that Shetty falsely stated he spent three years in an Indian temple.

Born in London and educated in business school, Shetty's podcast has attracted high-profile guests including Michelle Obama, Kim Kardashian, and Kobe Bryant. Additionally, he operates the Jay Shetty Certification School, where students pay substantial fees to learn his discipline.

The report questions the veracity of Shetty's biography, suggesting that he embellished his journey from material success to monkhood and back to public self-help personality. It also highlights discrepancies in his academic credentials, noting that the business school he attended does not offer a degree in behavioral science as claimed by Shetty.

Furthermore, Shetty's association with the Hare Krishna movement and his spiritual identity have raised eyebrows. While he avoids mentioning Iskcon, he refers to himself as a "Vedic monk," possibly to distance himself from controversies surrounding the organization.

Accusations of plagiarism have plagued Shetty for years. In 2019, he removed over 100 posts from social media platforms after YouTuber Nicole Arbour exposed their original sources. Many of Shetty's videos were found to be based on existing parables and viral social media content. Despite these controversies, Shetty continues to maintain a prominent presence, recently officiating the wedding of Hollywood stars Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck.
