PTC News Desk: An appeal has been lodged in the Supreme Court challenging the High Court's orders regarding the recent panchayat elections. The petitioners argued that the High Court rendered its verdict without properly hearing the case, leading to concerns about the legitimacy of the decision.

The appeal specifically pertains to 206 panchayats where elections were suspended, with the Punjab government requesting that the hearing on this matter be moved from October 16 to October 14. However, the Supreme Court declined to halt the election process at this time, stating that since voting had already commenced today, it could not be interrupted.

Despite this refusal to stop the elections, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear the petition, indicating that the matter will be examined further in due course. The situation remains dynamic as the implications of both the High Court's decision and the ongoing voting process unfold.
