Chandigarh, August 8: Ambareesh Murty, the co-founder and CEO of Pepperfry, tragically passed away on Monday night due to a sudden cardiac arrest. His untimely demise was confirmed by Ashish Shah, the co-founder and COO of Pepperfry.

The distressing news of Murty's passing due to a cardiac arrest in Leh has left his colleagues and the business community in shock. In a heartfelt tweet, Shah expressed his devastation and remembered Murty as a friend, mentor, brother, and soulmate. He requested prayers for Murty's soul and strength for his family and loved ones during this challenging time.


Ambareesh Murty began his journey in the business world by joining Cadbury in June 1996, where he initially served in sales and marketing. Following his time with Cadbury, he ventured into the financial sector, working with Prudential ICICI AMC (now ICICI Prudential) as VP of Marketing and Customer Service. His career also included stints at Levi's and eBay India.


In June 2011, Murty co-founded Pepperfry, an online marketplace specializing in home furniture and related products, alongside Ashish Shah. The venture aimed to revolutionise the way people shop for furniture and decor. Murty's entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his work made a lasting impact on the e-commerce landscape.
