Parkash Singh Badal: The ashes of late Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, SAD patriarch, and five times Punjab CM, were immersed in Sutlej river at Kiratpur Sahib by his family on Wednesday.
Sukhbir Singh Badal, immersed the ashes of his father before leaving for the ceremony. Badal's family, relatives and close friends offered prayers to Akal Purakh Waheguru ji before the immersion. The last prayer of the former Chief Minister will be held at Bhalke Pind Badal, and the function will take place at Mata Jaswant Kaur Memorial Public School.
Late Sardar Prakash Singh Badal passed away on April 25, at the age of 95, and had served as the Chief Minister of Punjab for five times. His last rites were performed on April 27, at his native village Badal after he was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali due to shortness of breath.
The veteran leader, who served as a village sarpanch, was the youngest Chief Minister to ever hold office in Punjab, at the age of 43. On Wednesday, Badal family along with their relatives prayed to Akal Purakh Waheguru ji before taking the bus to look after Sardar Prakash Singh Badal's ashes to immerse Shri Kiratpur Sahib.
Former Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, was fondly referred to as the 'Man of the Masses' by his admirers. He was known for his government's popular decisions and schemes that benefitted the people of Punjab.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be attending the final prayer of Parkash Singh Badal, the patron of the Shiromani Akali Dal. Badal, who served as Chief Minister of Punjab five times, will have his last prayer ceremony on May 4 in his hometown of Badal.
After Badal's passing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had traveled to Chandigarh to pay his last respects, while BJP national president JP Nadda attended the funeral. Despite being occupied with the Karnataka elections, Shah has reportedly decided to attend the event.
The central leadership of the BJP has shown great respect for Badal, who played an essential role in the formation of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)
