PTC News Desk: On Friday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches in Punjab as part of its ongoing investigation into the murder of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vikas Prabhakar.

Prabhakar, also known as Vikas Bagga, was gunned down in his confectionery shop in Nangal, Roopnagar district, on April 13. He served as the Nangal president of the VHP.

The NIA took over the investigation from the state police on May 9. According to an NIA spokesperson, the searches are a continuation of their probe into the murder case. Details regarding the specific locations and outcomes of the searches were not immediately available.

Recently, Dharminder Kumar, alias Kunal, a 22-year-old accused of supplying the illegal arms and ammunition used in the murder, was arrested by the NIA in Ludhiana, Punjab. This arrest was part of a coordinated operation with the Delhi Police Special Cell.

NIA investigations have uncovered that Kumar obtained the illegal weapons from Madhya Pradesh and delivered them to the shooters under the orders of Harwinder Kumar, alias Sonu, a Khalistani terrorist based abroad.
