Monsoon Session Day 6: I.N.D.I.A alliance MPs stage protest in black attire over Manipur violence

Monsoon Session Day 6: Members of Parliament from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) plan to wear black clothes in Parliament to protest the situation in Manipur. The opposition, led by Congress, demands a detailed discussion on the issue and a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, causing disruptions and adjournments in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha since the monsoon session began on July 20.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla accepted a no-confidence motion against the government, moved by Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on behalf of the I.N.D.I.A alliance. However, the date and time for the debate on the motion are yet to be specified.

The Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi, and Aam Admi Party have issued a three-line whip to their MPs, mandating their presence in the house on July 27 and 28. Important discussions on various matters are expected in both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.

RJD MP Manoj Jha and Congress MP Manish Tewari have given notices to discuss the situation in Manipur and the border situation with China, respectively. Union Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar will make a statement on foreign policy developments in Rajya Sabha.

Additionally, the Central Government will move the Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2023 in Rajya Sabha to combat film piracy and revamp age-based film certifications. The bill aims to address unauthorized film recordings and exhibition.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur will also make a statement regarding the status of implementing recommendations from a parliamentary standing committee report on Youth Affairs. The Standing Committee on Finance will table reports on cyber security and anti-competitive practices by big-tech companies.

The proceedings in Parliament remain focused on crucial discussions and legislations to address pressing national issues.
