PTC News Desk: Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand told mediapersons that the man who is suspected of killing a 24-year-old woman inside her hostel in Bengaluru was taken into custody in Madhya Pradesh today and will be transferred to the city for additional inquiry.

Kriti Kumari, the victim, was a native of Bihar and was staying in a paying guest (PG) apartment in the busy Koramangala neighbourhood of Bengaluru. On Tuesday night, about 11 p.m., a man carrying a knife broke into the building, stabbed her throat, and then ran away.

Sources claim that the man is Ms. Kumari's dormitory roommate's boyfriend. The roommate and the accused used to argue over his unemployment. When the argument got ugly, Ms. Kumari would frequently step in to make things worse. It is reported that Ms. Kumari counseled her roommate to keep her distance from the male. According to accounts, the man killed Ms. Kumari after becoming agitated by this.

The horrific murder was caught on camera by security cameras that were placed throughout the hostel. The man can be seen banging on Ms. Kumari's door in the video. As soon as he got inside, he pulled her into the hallway and pinned her up against the wall. She tried to fight back, but the attacker overcame her and repeatedly stabbed her in the neck before running away. Upon hearing this, more residents hurried out.

According to Commissioner Dayanand, the probe is moving more quickly. To apprehend the culprits, the Bengaluru police had established three specialised teams.
