Lawrence Bishnoi interview case: HC reprimands Punjab government over scapegoating lower rank officials
The court further said that when a certain crime is committed in the jail premises then the action is taken against jail warden, however the SSP has not been held accountable yet.
PTC News Desk: The Punjab and Haryana High Court came down heavily on Punjab government in Lawrence Bishnoi interview case. The court reprimanded government that why no action has been taken yet against the then SSP.
The court further said that when a certain crime is committed in the jail premises then the action is taken against jail warden, however the SSP has not been held accountable yet. Along with the government court also slammed home secretary for the incident.
The first interview of Lawrence Bishnoi was broadcasted on March 14, 2023 where gangster took responsibility for Sidhu Moosewala's murder. During second interview, Lawrence presented with evidence which proved that the interviews were conducted in jail premises only and how he had complete access to mobile phones and signals.
According to the reports during the first interview, he was in custody of Punjab CIA Kharar whereas the second interview was reportedly conducted while he was incarcerated in Rajasthan's Jaipur jail.
The court also took notice of how lower rank officials are being scapegoated while no action is being taken against the top guns.
Soon after the interview went viral, Punjab police came under heavy scrutiny. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav held a press conference and asserted that none of the interview took place in any of the Punjab jails
