Jalandhar West Byelection: Two-time councillor Bibi Surjit Kaur named as SAD candidate for Jalandhar west constituency

PTC News Desk: Bibi Surjit Kaur, the late Jathedar Pritam Singh's wife, was declared a candidate by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) for the Jalandhar West (reserved) assembly constituency by-poll. Kaur was a two-term councillor.

Senior leader Bibi Jagir Kaur revealed this, stating that a four-member committee appointed by party president S Sukhbir Singh Badal made this choice in order to choose the party's nominee. Mohinder Singh Kaypee, Dr. Sukhwinder Sukhi, and Gurpartap Singh Wadala are the other members of the committee.

According to Bibi Jagir Kaur, Bibi Surjit Kaur was of Punjabi descent, and her late husband, Jathedar Pritam Singh, had previously held the position of councillor. She mentioned that Surjit Kaur was well-known for her community outreach and social activities. "I have no doubt that the people will back a diligent party leader from Jalandhar West," she continued.
