Chandigarh police arrest one suspect in Sector 10 blast case; second suspect still at large

Blast took place on Wednesday evening and the owner of the house claimed that two people in an auto-rickshaw had hurled a "grenade"

PTC News Desk: On Friday, Chandigarh police arrested one of the two suspects involved in a recent blast at a house in Sector 10. The arrest followed a detailed investigation into the low-intensity explosion that occurred on Wednesday evening.

The explosion, which was reported around 5:30 pm, took place at the residence of K K Malhotra, a retired principal from Himachal Pradesh. According to the house owner, two individuals in an auto-rickshaw had thrown what was described as a "grenade" at the property. This claim is currently under investigation by the police.


In response to the incident, the Chandigarh Police had announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh on Thursday for any information leading to the arrest of the suspects. The auto-rickshaw driver, who had been hired by the suspects from Sector 43, has also been apprehended.

Authorities have released a photo of the two suspects involved. CCTV footage from the area captured images of the explosion and the auto-rickshaw used in the attack, aiding the investigation.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) mentioned that the exact nature of the explosive device used in the attack is still being verified. The investigation continues as authorities work to apprehend the second suspect and determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
