Apple iPhone 16 series launched: India pricing, full specifications, sale details, and more

The new iPhone 16 series has finally been released by Apple in India and other international markets. Many improvements have been made to the ordinary iPhone 16 models, which will probably encourage consumers to purchase the latest model. Here are the full specs and price information for India.

PTC News Desk: Apple has officially launched the iPhone 16 series in India and global markets, featuring notable upgrades across the standard and Pro models. The new lineup includes the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

These models bring significant improvements in design, performance, and features, which are expected to attract consumers. The iPhone 16 series will soon be available for pre-order, and it will be sold through multiple platforms, including Flipkart, Amazon, Apple Store, and other retail outlets.


iPhone 16 Series: India Prices and Sale Details

The pricing for the iPhone 16 series in the U.S. starts at $799 (approximately Rs 67,000) for the standard iPhone 16, while the iPhone 16 Plus is priced at $899 (approximately Rs 75,500). The iPhone 16 Pro starts at $999 (around Rs 83,870) for the 128GB variant, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max is priced at $1,199 (around Rs 1 lakh) for the 256GB model.


For the Indian market, prices are as follows:

iPhone 16: Rs 79,900

iPhone 16 Plus: Rs 89,900

iPhone 16 Pro: Rs 1,19,900 (starting price)

iPhone 16 Pro Max: Rs 1,44,900

Pre-order and Sale Dates

Indian customers can pre-order the iPhone 16 series starting from September 13, 5:30 PM. The official sale will begin on September 20 across various online and offline platforms, including major e-commerce sites and the Apple Store.

iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus: Full Specifications

Design and Display

Apple has launched the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, crafted with durable "aerospace-grade aluminum" and featuring a colour-infused backglass for a premium finish. These models are available in vibrant colors including ultramarine, teal, pink, white, and black.


The iPhone 16 sports a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Plus offers a larger 6.7-inch screen. Both devices deliver impressive visual performance with 2000 nits of peak brightness, capable of dimming to just 1 nit in dark settings, ensuring optimal display quality in any lighting condition.

Action Button and Customization

Apple has brought the Action Button to the standard iPhone models, previously exclusive to Pro versions. This feature allows users to quickly access functions like recording voice memos, identifying music, or translating phrases. It can be customised with various shortcuts and integrated into apps such as FordPass to lock or unlock a car.

Enhanced Camera Control

A new camera control feature has been added, allowing users to adjust camera settings by sliding a finger on the screen near the power button. The camera button, now flush with the surface and protected by sapphire glass, offers versatile functionality: a single click opens the camera, a second click captures a photo, and holding the button starts recording video.


The camera control also supports advanced touch gestures, differentiating between a full press and a lighter touch for improved usability. Lighter presses enable a clean preview for better framing, while a new overlay provides quick access to essential functions like Zoom, ensuring that users can easily capture the perfect shot.

Chipset

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are powered by Apple’s cutting-edge A18 chipset, utilizing advanced second-generation 3nm technology. This new A18 chip features a 6-core CPU, comprising 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. According to Apple, the A18 offers up to 30% improved performance compared to the previous A16 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 15, along with 17% more system memory bandwidth for enhanced multitasking and overall efficiency.

Camera Specifications

The iPhone 16 boasts an upgraded 48-megapixel main camera, combining high-resolution 48MP and 12MP images into a clearer 24MP photo. This model also includes a 2x telephoto zoom capability utilizing the central 12MP section of the sensor and features a faster f/1.6 aperture, improving performance in low-light conditions.

Users can record video in 4K60 with Dolby Vision HDR for high-quality footage. The new 12MP ultra-wide camera, equipped with a larger aperture and bigger pixels, allows 2.6 times more light to enter, resulting in brighter and sharper images. The iPhone 16’s camera system is designed to offer the equivalent of four different lenses in one device and supports capturing unique Spatial Video and Photos using its dual-camera setup.

Apple Intelligence Features

The iPhone 16 series introduces Apple Intelligence, an AI-powered feature designed to enhance user experience. This technology can comprehend and generate language and images while ensuring user data remains private through secure cloud computing. Apple guarantees that data is neither stored nor shared, emphasising user privacy.


The new intelligence features include improved productivity tools such as email summarization and notification prioritization. Users can now search their Photos with descriptions like “Shani dancing in a red dress” or locate specific moments in videos. Siri provides step-by-step guidance, even with partial or unclear input, and now supports direct typing.

Additionally, Visual Intelligence allows users to point their camera at objects like menus or event flyers to receive information or add events to their calendars. It can identify dog breeds and more, all while keeping user data private. Initially, these features will be available in US English, with additional languages planned for release next year.

iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max: Full Specifications

Design and Display

The iPhone 16 Pro models introduce a new gold color option and feature the innovative Camera Control button. The iPhone 16 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max boasts a 6.9-inch screen, the largest ever seen on an iPhone. Both models showcase thinner borders and always-on 120Hz ProMotion displays. They are available in Black Titanium, White Titanium, Natural Titanium, and a new Desert Titanium colour.


Chipset

The iPhone 16 Pro series is powered by the advanced A18 Pro chipset, built on second-generation 3nm transistors. The A18 Pro features a 6-core GPU that delivers 20% faster performance than its predecessor, the A17 Pro. It includes 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, providing up to 15% improved performance while using 20% less power. The chipset also incorporates next-generation machine learning accelerators, faster USB 3 speeds, and supports ProRes video recording.

Camera Upgrades

The iPhone 16 Pro models come with a new triple rear camera system, featuring a 48MP fusion camera with a second-generation quad-pixel sensor that allows for 0 shutter lag in 48MP ProRAW and HEIF photos. The cameras support 4K120 video capture. A new 48MP ultra-wide camera with autofocus has been added, and both Pro models include a 12MP sensor with a 5x telephoto lens, offering a 120mm focal length.

Audio Upgrades

The iPhone 16 Pro series introduces advanced audio features, including Spatial Audio capture during video recording. The new Audio Mix technology utilizes machine learning to separate background sounds from speech, and the "In-frame mix" feature isolates the voice of the person on camera, creating a studio-quality recording effect.


Battery

Although Apple has not disclosed the exact battery size, the company boasts significant improvements in battery performance. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is highlighted for having the best battery life ever seen on an iPhone, thanks to optimizations in battery capacity and power management. This promises users extended usage times, enhancing the overall device experience.
