The momentum was further carried away by the Indian Women's Hockey team that defeated Ireland 1-0 in the group stage. With a victory over Ireland, the quarterfinal hopes are still alive for the Indian Women's Hockey team. It was a do-or-die match against Ireland. The much-needed goal came under pressure. Now, Ireland has a tough match against Great Britain. However, if Ireland loses and India wins against the Republic of South Africa, then India will go through as they will finish 4th in the pool. On the other hand, the Indian Men's Hockey team has qualified for the quarterfinals and will take on Japan in its last match of the group stage on Friday.
