The Rajasthan government on Monday decided to ban the sale of firecrackers during the festive season including Diwali 2020 in the state in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ashok Gehlot took to Twitter and wrote: "State govt has taken the decision to ban the sale and bursting of firecrackers in order to protect the health of COVID-19 infected patients and public from poisonous smoke emanating due to fireworks. In this challenging corona pandemic time, protecting the lives of people is paramount for the government." Rajasthan government decided to ban the sale of firecrackers during festive season including Diwali 2020 in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. "The poisonous smoke emanating from fireworks is a health hazard for COVID-19 patients as well as those suffering from heart ailments and breathing problems. In such a situation, people should avoid fireworks during Diwali 2020," he added. The development came after Gehlot reviewed the situation created by the coronavirus crisis and 'no mask-no entry' and 'war for the pure' campaign of the Rajasthan government.
