Tender scam: Bharat Bhushan Ashu bail plea to be heard on September 7

Chandigarh, September 04: Former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu who was arrested by Punjab Vigilance Bureau and has been sent to 14-day judicial custody in Patiala moved a bail application for his release in a corruption case related to the transportation tender allotment scam. In a major update, Bharat Bhushan Ashu bail plea is to be heard on September 7. Ashu’s counsel Parupkar Singh Ghumman said, “The hearing on the bail application is on September 7 in the court of additional sessions judge Ajit Attri.” Also Read: Amritsar Police issue helpline number for info on terrorist who escaped hospital; also release sketch In the meantime, Punjab Vigilance department is also investigating Ashu’s relatives and their records. Punjab Vigilance Bureau has intensified its campaign against corruption and is certainly not sparing anyone be it a politician or any high rank officer. The VB hitlist is longer than expected, bearing several big political names. Ashu filed bail plea few days after his arrest and five lawyers signed on his bail plea which will be heard on September 7. Accused in tender scam Sandeep Bhatia and Jagroop Singh also applied for the bail which was rejected by Special Judge Dr Ajit Atri Meanwhile, Bharat Bhushan Ashu was arrested from a salon, where Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu was also present. Disclosing the details, spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau (VB) said that the Bureau, after verification of a complaint made by complainant Gurprit Singh, has already registered FIR No. 11 Dated 16-08-2022 u/s 420, 409, 467, 468, 471, 120-B IPC and 7, 8, 12, 13(2) Preventions of Corruption Act at VB police station Ludhiana in which contractors namely Telu Ram, Jagroop Singh and Sandeep Bhatia besides owner/partners of Gurdas Ram & Company has been booked. -PTC News
