PTC Web Desk: Indian tennis star Sania Mirza is set to go on a religious pilgrimage to Hajj, almost 5 months after announcing her separation from cricketer husband Shoaib Malik.

Sania, who has also retired from playing tennis, was most recently serving as a pundit for the famous French Open 2024. Taking to social media on Sunday, the Indian sporting icon stated that she is now preparing for a 'transformative experience' from which she hopes to emerge as a better person.

"As I prepare for this transformative experience, I humbly ask for your forgiveness for any wrongdoings and shortcomings," Sania wrote in a social media post. "I am deeply fortunate and feel immensely grateful. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I embark on this journey of a lifetime. I hope to come back as a better human being with a humble heart and stronger Imaan," she added.

Sania was also recently seen on a popular comedy show, where she spoke with comedian Kapil Sharma about her successful career, particularly her relationship with Martina Hingis from 2015-16.

During the conversation, Sania stated: "I believe all of the women sitting on this couch can understand this...when you hit a streak (winning back-to-back), athletes like to describe it being 'in the zone'... To be honest, I believe that is the greatest way I can define Martina and my relationship during the last six months."
