Paris Olympics 2024: Aman Sehrawat lost 10-0 to Japan's Rei Higuchi in the men's 57kg wrestling semifinals at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Thursday. He will now compete in the bronze medal match on Friday.

Aman kicked off his campaign with a 10-0 victory over Russian-born Macedonian wrestler Vladimir Egorov in the pre-quarterfinals, followed by a 12-0 victory over Albanian-born Russian wrestler Zelimkhan Abakarov.

In the semi-finals, however, Aman struggled to keep up with Higuchi, who won silver in the 2016 Rio Olympics. The Japanese grappler outperformed Aman and bulldozed his way to a VSU — a technical victory in which his opponent failed to score a single point.

Aman's journey is however not over, and he can still walk away with a medal around his neck when he faces Puerto Rico's Darian Cruz in the bronze medal match on Friday, August 9.

Aman was the only Indian male wrestler to win the Paris 2024 quota and was eventually chosen over Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Ravi Kumar Dahiya by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
