ICC ODI Rankings: Shubman Gill rises to career-best 5th position; Kuldeep Yadav enters top 10

Dubai, August 9: Indian cricket's standout performers Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan have achieved new career-high rankings on the ICC ODI Player Rankings for batters. The rankings were updated by the ICC on Wednesday, showcasing Gill's ascent of two places to claim the fifth spot.

During the recent ODI series victory against West Indies, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan emerged as India's most notable batting talents, accumulating an impressive 310 runs over three matches. Gill's performance catapulted him to the fifth position in the rankings.

While Pakistani captain Babar Azam remains the frontrunner in the ODI batter rankings, Gill's remarkable showing against West Indies propels him to 743 rating points, with the third-ranked Fakhar Zaman (755) and fourth-ranked Imam-ul-Haq (745) well within his reach.

Ishan Kishan also attained a career-best rating by advancing nine places to secure the 36th position overall. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya climbed ten places to tie for 71st after his contributions against West Indies.

Experienced Indian all-rounder Pandya also ascended five places to claim the 11th position on the ODI all-rounders list. Notably, left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav and seamer Shardul Thakur made significant strides in the ODI bowlers rankings.

Kuldeep secured the 10th position with 622 points after a standout performance against West Indies, while Thakur, who topped the series with eight wickets, rose three spots to 30th.

Indian cricket luminaries Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma maintained their positions at 9th and 11th, respectively. Emerging talent Tilak Varma entered the batter rankings at 46th following a promising start to his international journey. Kuldeep's impressive leap of 36 places to 51st drew attention as a highlight among the bowlers representing the Asian side.
