PTC News Desk: India captain Rohit Sharma has stated that he would have dropped Suryakumar Yadav from the team if he had missed David Miller's catch in the T20 World Cup final.

Miller struck a wide full toss from Hardik Pandya in the match's penultimate over, but Suryakumar was able to catch the ball inside the ropes at long-off, realising it only as he cleared the boundary and then returning in to complete an unbelievable catch.

The Maharashtra government expressed gratitude Rohit, Suryakumar, Shivam Dube, and Yashasvi Jaiswal on Team India's triumph in the T20 World Cup.

During the occasion, Rohit disclosed what Suryakumar told him after the catch. The Indian captain joked that if Suryakumar had failed to make the catch, he would have sacked him from the team.

"Suryakumar Yadav stated the ball landed in his hands, which is good...Otherwise, I would have dropped him from the team," Rohit joked, causing Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and other members to split.

Several  video angles of the catch went viral on social media, with many arguing it was an unfair catch. However, the claim was incorrect because the boundary cushion was outside the line during the Indian innings.

It is fairly common to change the positions of boundary ropes before of a match based on the pitch chosen for the game.

"I am just grateful to be in that moment to do something special for the country...god's plan it was," Suryakumar said.
