Gautam Gambhir to quit politics : Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 encompassing both the general elections to elect members of the 18th Lok Sabha and assembly elections to select members of the Rajya Sabha, state legislative assemblies, panchayats, and urban local bodies is all set to take place in April-May this year, Indian former international cricketer, politician and Bharatiya Janata Party MP Gautam Gambhir has decided to resign from active politics.

Gautam Gambhir is a former Indian cricketer who transitioned to politics after retiring from cricket joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a major political party in India shared that he wanted to concentrate on his cricket commitments noting that before becoming a politician it was time for him to turn his attention back to the sport in which he had passionately devoted himself.

 

Taking to X handle (former Twitter), Gautam Gambhir said, "I have requested Hon'ble Party President JP Nadda ji to relieve me of my political duties so that I can focus on my upcoming cricket commitments. I sincerely thank Hon'ble PM Narendra Modi for giving me the opportunity to serve the people. Jai Hind."

Gautam Gambhir's journey is a remarkable story of determination, talent, and perseverance. Gambhir played a pivotal role in India's victory in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. His composed innings in the final against Sri Lanka, where he scored 97 runs, was instrumental in India's triumph.
