PTC News Desk: Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rohan Jaitley is likely to become the next BCCI secretary if Jay Shah becomes head of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shah has yet to file his nomination for the post.
According to multiple reports, Jay Shah has emerged as the strongest candidate to succeed Greg Barclay in the top position. To secure his nomination, the ICC needs a proposer and a seconder. According to reports, England and Australia are likely to support Shah's candidature, boosting his chances for the top position.
Jay Shah is currently the BCCI-appointed ICC director and chairs the ICC's Finance and Commercial Affairs subcommittee, which is one of the ICC's most prominent bodies. His leadership in these roles, in addition to strong support from international cricket boards, puts him in a good position to lead the ICC in the future years.
According to a source in Dainik Bhaskar, there is rising support in the BCCI for Rohan, the son of late politician Arun Jaitely, to succeed Shah as secretary. Other top executives at the Indian Cricket Board, including President Roger Binny, will remain in their positions for another year, as their tenure ends.
