Bihar MLA Shreyasi Singh set to shine at Paris Olympics 2024; takes aim at gold

Paris Olympics 2024: Shreyasi Singh, a BJP MLA from Jamui and renowned shooter, will be represent India at the Paris Olympics 2024. An Arjuna Award recipient, Shreyasi Singh won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and has been selected to compete in the shotgun trap event, scheduled for July 30 and 31. She is the first athlete from Bihar to secure a spot in the Olympics and notably, the first elected representative to join the Indian team.
Singh, who will compete in the Paris Olympics 2024 from July 26 to August 11, was elected as an MLA from Jamui on a BJP ticket in the 2020 Assembly elections. A resident of Giddhaur in Jamui district, she is the daughter of former Union Minister Digvijay Singh and former MP Putul Kumari.
Despite her political career, Shreyasi Singh has continued to excel in shooting, making significant strides in both fields. In 2018, she clinched a gold medal in shooting at the Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast. She also won a silver medal in double trap at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
In addition to her achievements at the Commonwealth Games, Singh earned a bronze medal in the double trap team event at the 2014 Asian Games and a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Following her gold medal win in 2018, she was honoured with the Arjuna Award.
Before heading to Paris, Singh received blessings from her mother, Putul Kumari, who celebrated the occasion with sweets. Singh also sought blessings from her father, Digvijay Singh, by placing a garland on his photograph. Singh, who has long aspired to compete in the Olympics, hopes to fulfill her father's dream by securing a gold medal for India.
