Smriti Irani defamation case: HC directs Cong leaders to remove posts against Irani’s daughter

New Delhi, July 29: Amid the allegations against Smriti Irani and her daughter, Zoish Irani over illegal bar row, the Delhi High Court on Friday issued summons to Congress leaders over Smriti Irani’s defamation case. The Delhi High Court has passed an interim injunction directing the three Congress leaders to delete all related posts from all social media platforms. Meanwhile, Smriti Irani had also filed a civil defamation suit seeking damages of over Rs 2 crore after the three leaders made baseless allegations against her and her daughter. Justice Mini Pushkarna ordered the three Congress leaders to remove tweets, retweets, posts, videos and photos from social media which are against Smriti Irani and her daughter. The court said in case the defendants fail to comply with its directions within 24 hours, social media platforms Twitter, Facebook and YouTube shall take down the material. "The Delhi High Court has issued notice asking us to formally reply to the case filed by Smriti Irani. We look forward to presenting the facts before the court. We will challenge and disprove the spin being put out by Ms. Irani," tweets Congress leader Jairam Ramesh Meanwhile, Congress leaders alleged that Smriti Irani’s 18-year-old daughter Zoish Irani ran a illegal bar in Goa and tagged many ministers in the post, demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sack Smriti from his Cabinet. Moreover, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera also stated to media that Irani's daughter is allegedly running a restaurant in Goa, in which a bar is functioning on a "fake licence".
