Punjab Assembly Elections 2022: Shahkot is located in the Jalandhar district of Punjab. It is one of the 117 seats of Punjab Vidhan Sabha. Shiromani Akali Dal's Ajit Singh Kohar won the last assembly elections and is the current MLA of Shahkot. He won the 2017 elections by defeating Hardev Singh Laddi of Congress with a margin of 4,905 votes. Voters According to the voter list for the 2017 assembly elections, the total number of voters in the constituency is 1,71,954. 234 polling stations were established by the election commission during these elections. A total of 1,34,600 votes were cast in the Shahkot constituency and the percentage was 78.28%, which was recorded higher than the state average. Candidates Aam Aadmi Party's Amarjit Singh Mehatpur, Shiromani Akali Dal's Ajit Singh Kohar and Congress' Hardev Singh Ladi were MLA candidates for Shahkot constituency in the 2017 Punjab assembly elections. Ajit Singh Kohar (SAD) grabbed 46,913 votes, Hardev Singh Ladi (Congress) won 42,008 and Amarjit Singh Mehatpur (AAP) received 41,010 votes.
