PTC Web Desk: Indian engineer Sebin Saji has astounded the engineering community with his innovative creation: the world's smallest functional washing machine. This unique gadget, measuring just 1.28 inches by 1.32 inches by 1.52 inches, is even smaller than a Tamagotchi digital pet, a beloved handheld toy from the 1990s. The Guinness World Records has officially recognized Saji's washing machine as the tiniest ever made.

Despite its miniature size, the machine operates like a standard washing machine, although it is intended for exceptionally small loads. Saji's meticulous craftsmanship has drawn significant attention, showcasing the potential for miniaturisation in engineering.

To earn this prestigious title, Sebin Saji designed and assembled the washing machine, proving its functionality by demonstrating a complete cycle that included washing, rinsing, and spinning. He used specialised digital calipers to ensure accurate measurements. In a video demonstration, Saji is seen adding just a pinch of washing powder and pouring in water before sealing the machine and starting it up.

As he showcased his engineering prowess, a crowd gathered to watch, erupting in applause when the measurements were announced. While this tiny washing machine may not be practical for everyday use, it certainly offers a fun glimpse into the possibilities of engineering innovation. In a similar vein of creativity, India recently witnessed the creation of the world's smallest vacuum cleaner, measuring just 0.65 cm (0.25 inches) at its shortest axis.
